Admission Procedure
Becoming a full member or observer of PIPA follows a simple, three-step process, guided by the Secretariat and the Board, and validated by the General Assembly.
Parliaments and legislatures
All national parliaments and legislative assemblies of the Pacific Islands, as well as sub-national legislatures connected to non-Pacific capitals.
Assemblies and organisations
Sub-national legislatures whose national branch is already a member, assemblies of states or territories seeking association, or regional and international organisations with an interest.
The 3 steps of the procedure
Whether for full membership or observer status, the procedure follows the same path.
Submission
The candidate assembly submits a justified request to PIPA’s Secretariat.
Review
The Secretariat reviews admissibility, under the supervision of the Board.
Approval
The General Assembly decides at its next meeting.
Between the request and its approval, candidates may be invited by the Board to attend PIPA meetings and events as guests.
