A decade of parliamentary cooperation across the Pacific
From the founding charter signed in Tahiti in 2013 to today’s Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
Birth of the PPG
At the initiative of the Assembly of French Polynesia, six Polynesian parliaments sign the founding charter of the Polynesian Parliamentarians Group.
1st Conference: Tarahoi Declaration
The group expands to all parliaments of the Pacific Islands Forum. PIPG’s statutes are adopted, alongside the Tarahoi Declaration — a pact for a sustainable blue economy.
PIPG Technical Meeting
Members review progress on the commitments made in the Tarahoi Declaration and prepare the group’s next steps.
3rd Conference: Fangatapu Declaration
PIPG members adopt the Fangatapu Declaration at the group’s 3rd annual conference.
4th Conference: Ngibtal Declaration
PIPG’s 4th annual conference is held in Palau, resulting in the adoption of the Ngibtal Declaration.
5th Conference: Natadola Declaration — from PIPG to PIPA
The constitutive General Assembly adopts new statutes. PIPG becomes the Pacific Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, with a structured governance.
PIPA’s first General Assembly
PIPA holds its very first General Assembly in Tahiti, the institution’s headquarters — officially launching a new era of regional parliamentary cooperation.
